June 6 Set List

If you’ll notice on the Planning Center website on the left column, I attached the lyric sheet for Sunday.  This could be a useful feature in the future.

Someone directed me toward a very slick system for churches…plannincenteronline.com.  It is a scheduler, file sharing, etc. system for churches and their worship/sound/tech teams.  Right now I am demo-ing it to see if it is something we might use.  In the next 24 hours you should be receiving an invitation to this system.  I will keep the blog going for redundancy, but would like you to try it out and see.

The largest advantage for instrumentalists is that we can now share chord charts and sound files.  We have the ability to upload pdf’s or word docs, mp3′s, and link to youtube (which is also a bonus for singers, too!).  This way if there’s a better chord chart out there, we can put it up and have it in our collective library!

The largest advantage for us (Holly and I) is that we will be able to centralize the calendar, set list, song lists, and also coordinate (if it works with them) with the sound team.  The most important aspect is the scheduling: We can now have a central place to maintain “who’s on bass” records, rather than a smattering of emails, notes in our box, text messages, etc.

What I’d like you to do (when you receive the invitation) is to go on to the site and block off the dates you are not available for as long as you know them.  The nice thing is that Holly or I can sub for anyone but the guitars…the only problem is if there are two instruments gone, I can only sub for one at a time.  We end up “punting” sometimes.  While this online scheduler may not solve the problem of not having enough subs, it will make it a little easier to see in advance, and perhaps help you work any flexibility in as needed to make sure we have full instrumentation.

That being said, we are on VACATION for the next two Sundays.  It’s the second vacation we’ve taken in ten years (excluding staying at family’s houses), and the only week long trip outside of the Holidays that we’ve ever been on, and the first without kids!  We’re excited, if you haven’t guessed.

So, Nate will be leading on Sunday, June 6, and JJ will be leading on June 13.  We have a tentative set list for June 6, but do not have one for June 13.  We hope to very soon.  Here is the tentative set list for June 6:

Second Item:

JJ and Kelly Johnson would like to get involved!  It is always nice to see new faces in ministry.  JJ is Program Director at Lake Beauty, and both of them have experience in worship music.  They have been attending Grace for quite a while now, and have been looking forward to getting involved.

What we would love to do is to have a jam session on either May 12 or May 26.  Please respond to let us know if either, both, or neither of those dates will work out.  If we don’t have a critical mass, we will try for a Saturday morning.

Third Item:

Here is the set lists for May.  The songs are firmly tentative.  If we have good reason to switch things out, we will, but are trying to avoid repeating songs while keeping new ones in peoples’ minds.  Also listed is who is leading.

Looking ahead…
Holy week is coming up quickly. There are some things we’ll need to have in place.
First: Kent, would you lead on Manudy Thursday? Muppy, are you available to play? We want to go with an acoustic lead for this service. Gretchen, if you’re available to sing that would be great. If not, I (Holly) will sing back-up vocals. Nate and Sarah, both of you are off the hook–with younger kids and no childcare during the 7:00 p.m. service it’s a tricky one to do.

Second: The Good Friday service is at Grace again this year (seems to be alternating between Living Hope and Grace for the venue). We have asked for another church to provide the lead worship team. If needs change we will let you know.

Third: Nate, would you lead for Easter Sunday? We’d really like to add “One Way.”. Instrumentalists, can we practice on Wednesday, March 10th during GIG time? The sanctuary is booked on both March 17th and 24th, but we thought it might be an OK time to jam. Muppy, I (Holly) could sub for GIG time if you want–your call. We can play through things on Sunday mornings, too but this would give us a bigger chunk of time to work with. Kent, we know you’re gone, but if we get the instrumental stuff hammered out we think it will be a smooth add for vocals to join in. That will give us three Sundays to go through the song, too.
